Please Mr Custer, I don't want to go.

After spending a whole lot of time trying to get here, we finally arrived in Rapid City, South Dakota. A major unforecast (tut tut) fog event at a major transit hub meant that we were diverted all over the place before reaching our destination.

So what is in South Dakota? Well, not a whole lot, but how about this:

Mt Rushmore!!

We also went to the Crazy Horse monument. A mountain sculpture in the making, in honour of one of the Indian heroes.

The finished sculpture in the foreground is the model for the unfinished mountain in the background. It has taken 60 years to get this far. For scale, the Mount Rushmore heads would all fit easily inside this guy's head.

Nearby lies Custer State Park. This park has a whole lot of wildlife and was used in the filming of 'Dances with Wolves'.

We saw loads of bison, prairie dogs, deer, un-identified small groundhog things and... a coyote!!! He was wiley.

Off to Chicago next.

By the way - it feels weird writing this without really knowing if anyone is reading it. Feel free to comment at any time using the link below each post!
